We spent 3 days at Flaming Gorge on a summer trip to hunt for Mack’s.  Funny how time has a way of making you forget how busy and miserable Flaming Gorge gets in the summer.  Every good fishing area is covered with boats, electronics, and fisherman that don’t seem to care how close they get to one another. Not to mention you can't find a place to stay.  We booked the last camp site at the Manila KOA that turned out to be a treat.  Our tent was about 10 feet from our neighbors tent, and we may as well sat around the same camp fire together as the pits were also about 10 feet apart.  Never again!

The fishing started off great as we slow rolled into Antelope Flats on the first morning.  The breeze was a bit more than we liked, but we saw active fish on my fish finder.

On the first drop of the day the lake trout killer (A.K.A. Bobber John), was tight lined.  Things were looking good.

Not for long.  Besides a couple dinks we pulled off a lone hump near the pipeline, it was the only good fish of the trip.  So, I swore off the Gorge during summer one more time and we left disappointed.

The other fun part of this trip was the fact the entire state of California is burning down and air was absolutely horrible.  Our throats were scratchy and I was getting headaches.  Never seen air that bad.
